5 - The Labyrinth

“Make known to me your ways, O God: teach me your paths” Psalm 25 v4

You are invited to physically and spiritually travel the design, and reflect at each spot marked by a plant

Prayer: journeying God, enable me to always walk with you.

The Beginning:

Before you set out on the labyrinth, look through the glass doors into the Church, where you can see the symbols and Church furniture, which through worship and prayer, learning and fellowship, bring us into the creative and loving presence of God.  The God who seems very close as we embark on the journey.

The Next Stage:

As you walk to the corner of the building, and around onto the straight stretch, you may feel that you are losing that closeness to God, but remember that as you walk from beginning to end, you are always in the shelter of the Church and the presence of God whose worship area can be glimpsed through the windows to your left.

Turning:

At the end of the Church building you will need to make another turn and make your way back down, past several gardens to your left. Perhaps when you see those reminders of music, you might like to remember the words of a favourite hymn as you walk and soak up the sense of God's peace passing the Peace Garden.  Soon after that you experience the winding, more complex nature of the walk, as you enter the final stage of the labyrinth.

The End:

As you reach the corner at the end, make sure you turn and look outwards at the busyness of Driffield and the people we are called to serve.  As you have travelled the labyrinth, walking close to God and spiritually aware, now is the time to see what this means in terms of service.
